Wells Recovery offers a peer support and work development program for individuals who achieve stability in their recovery journey. The Therapeutic Incentive Peer (“TIP”) program is a peer workforce development program that allows Wells Recovery to provide opportunities for individuals in early recovery to obtain job skills by practicing workforce behaviors such as showing up for shifts on time, being responsible, displaying a positive attitude, developing problem solving and decision-making skills, conducting oneself professionally, and acting as a role model for their peers.
Participation in the TIP program is only available to individuals who are current or graduated patients of a substance use disorder treatment program. TIP participants must apply for the program, be fully stable, and have at least 90 days of sobriety. Participants are selected following a collection of feedback on the person’s recovery program, commitment to responsible actions in their life, suitability to fill the specific position description, and a competitive interview process.
Wells Recovery TIP participants serve as either residential peers or as part of the food and housing support team. The responsibilities of residential peers include ensuring that residential patients are properly supervised at all times and that information regarding events and behaviors are effectively communicated to the appropriate individual. TIP participants on the food and housing support team will accompany food distribution program drivers to assist with pick-up and drop-off of donated food and coordinate the sorting and proper storage of donated food. They will also provide cleaning services within the treatment community, including helping to sanitize clothing and linens for new patients, turning over rooms when patients depart, fulfilling supply orders for the residential houses, and otherwise assisting in household maintenance.
Residents may participate in the TIP program for up to 18 months, during which time the residents may continue to receive residential and clinical treatment services.
